Plug-In Lamp

The idea is about the intervention of a lamp to the surrounding, furniture, existing surface/space etc.....at the end the concept came out with how to give new life to an old piece of furniture or an abandon object with a lamp that could make these old crappy stuffs become lively again. By attaching the lamp to a piece of furniture these two elements are become one object which add more function, space and new language to the abandon stuff. Attaching the electric screw driver inside the stick, the lamp is easily plug-in to another object.

Sculpted Lamp

The lamp can easily be sculpted by hand in many different shapes. Since the modeling clay can be made in very thin layer depending on your skill, the light will penetrate the surface imperfectly but nice. With elastic feature and flexibility of the material the lamp can be transform to personal, unique, and modifiable product.

Melting Lamp

The lamp provide us not only the light to see but the heat as well. Inspired by the domestic feeling from candle light in Scandinavian winter. The lamp can slightly change its shape according to the heat from the bulb. When the light is turned off the shape will get fix again.

Bio Screen

This bio screen, living curtain, is an experimental project to explore the ecological and sustainable design. Using real plants instead of fabric, this curtain also provide green environment to the domestic space. Ecological design in my point of view is how to cut out some of the production process that would reduce the cost, energy, and natural resources. Moreover, it will give an alternative way of living in everyday life. Instead of making a curtain from fabric and print on the pattern that look like beautiful leaf, why don’t we just directly make a curtain out of the real nature (living material)? Why we make fake green-environment to the room, if we could use the real vegetation in different ways? This curtain is not only used as a sun protection in summer, but also will filter the air, dust, and give oxygen back to the room.

Monument of forest

In my city everything are artificial even lightness and darkness. Nature has no longer existed….it become history of the mankind. We have forgotten what the nature is. The only memorable place that reminds me of nature is……….…the monument of the forest.

Garden of Memorial

Named "the garden of memorial", this project is represented as a monumentality of Ijmuiden. Because located in the middle of canal which is the main circulation for ships, this garden, which is inaccessible but visible, is also serve people who commute by water transportation as an urban artifact rather than just a landmark or statue. Since this project are dealing with the notion of the city, monumentality is my starting point for this project.

For me, the garden always represents incorporation of both natural and man-made materials. Also garden is sometime represented as peaceful place. It completely contrasts to the old context which this island used to be a fort island during the war. However, I contextualized it in a conflict way to remind people about the historical event and place where this land has been changed by incorporating between nature and human.

For this project I intend to not produce architecture to change the site, but rather bring back the memorial of the site to represent about the notion of the city. Instead of making a fancy architecture, I design simple structure which is the wall enclose the entire island. In this project, the wall can act as a symbolical structure to remind people what is in side. People in Ijmuiden could remind about the important event when they visit this site, or see from the other side of land. Basically, this garden is composed by three elements. The first is a rectangular wall which is 300 x 200m, and 15m heights. Second is Annex islands where are the arriving spot and opened garden. Third is the exhibition walkway where visitor can experience this island and the mainland.

To relate this garden to the mainland I place four towers to see as a reference point. During the war the land is scraped for effective shooting length. Also, the harbor is cut to this straight shape to provide clear view form the fortress.

Labirynt Cafe

For this project, i tried to integrate a new cafe, 200 sqm., in to the park........architecture itself become part of another green element in the park......after researching different typology of the garden in western traditional park....,rabirynt seem to be the most interesting for my project in term of its architectonic element.

Symbiosis

Called "Symbiosis", the exhibition at Showkonstfack was the collaboration of two Konstfack students from Textile Department and Interior Architecture and Furniture design department. Our goal is to explore how to blur the boundary between two different disciplines, textile and furniture design, and also try to approach art and design without border. In this project, textile and furniture can be seen as symbiosis organisms. The whole space is crafted by textile interweaving to the furniture. The textile, which we see as soft structure, will spatially give another dimension to the space, on the other hands; the furniture is no longer seen as a functional object, but rather a statement to existing space.

A secret window

We started with the thoughts of creating only an atmosphere as a pause place, rather than creating a space with objects. (in our everyday...The light seemed to be an effective way to do so. The atmosphere which we wanted to reach was that of the unusual and the unexpected. The unusual and unexpected reflects the character of Konstfack maybe in different ways but we have been thinking about this building. This building was a factory before and now it has been altered for institutional use. You feel the space as industrial. So the main character of this space is the alteration to an unexpected and unusual space. The light turned anyway to an object, to a source of light, the window. The window is unexpected in this place and a unusual sight in Konstfack since the look of it moves towards a more domestic way/appearance. This is how an atmosphere is created here with the help of light and a replica of a window. This installation communicates with the viewer in a visual way and gives it also a psychological character. Window can be seen as a metaphor object, the line/border between the physical and psychological, inside and outside, private and public. One can relate to the window in many different ways as you can imagine what kind of visual experience the window may offer...Something about the exact position of the window.. the dark place..

In-betweeness

The manipulation of space, materials and issues about shape, color, texture and gravity are common to architecture and furniture. For my degree project, I examine the three-dimensional territories of architecture and furniture. I investigate how the notion of architecture can influence furniture design, or the other way around. With my project, I don’t want to cross the border between them, but rather seek the grey zone in-between the two territories. I’m intrigued by particular spaces and things when they can’t be classified exactly; something in-between. It leaves me with curiosity, inspiration and space for imagination. My project can be seen as something in-between because it is hard to define. Whether it is extra small architecture or an extra large piece of furniture, it is somewhere in-between these aspects of scale and function.

In 2005, i took a sculpture class at the University of Oregon, Eugene, OR. During the course we exploied the texture, colour, and form using ready made object as a material to create our sculpture. They were just ordinary objects from 1 dollar store. the last picture show unexpectedinter-space of a spacific crate.
